Rug Update

So the Ban Striped Rug was nothing like we expected. Very coarse and scratchy. We immediately shipped it back to Overstock early this week. We resumed the search and decided to go with something more traditional:























Hand-tufted Playa Wool Rug

Very excited, I think the colors are perfect and it will carry the tone of the bedroom (which is coming to fruition and I love it!) into the rest of the apartment. Can't wait to see it in person... I think the third try is going to be a charm!

Weekend projects

I'm so hyped up for this weekend's painting projects. First, I'll be getting to the two Ikea Rast chests, which we are using as nightstands. They're going to be painted Benjamin Moore Lancaster Whitewash:

Glass knobs will be purchased soon.. Stay tuned for the finished look!

In the meantime, I want to use the extra Lancaster Whitewash to redo this stool. I still sort of enjoy this combo of paint/ fabric, but I want something a little more sophisticated now to flow with the rest of our apartment. No more garish, in-your-face vintage (I remember at the time I picked that color green, Urban Outfitters had painted some of their prop furniture a similar color).

So picture the stool with an off white base and something like one of these fabrics (left: Geometric Vintage by Duralee, right: Mint by Greenhouse Designs):

Prime and paint them in something like Benjamin Moore Lancaster Whitewash:

A New Rug

So we need a new rug for our living room. I thought the green Dash & Albert rug would work, but it's too big and I don't love the color as much as I thought.

Found this Martha Stewart rug on Overstock.com:

But I'm leaning towards a very neutral jute rug from Pottery Barn:

Living Room Update

We picked up some carnations at Trader Joe's yesterday. Still rocking the old camera.. but we hope to get a new one soon!

Update & agonizing over rugs

We're having a great start to summer here. Yesterday we did a massive cleaning and rearranged the kitchen shelves ever so slightly:



We got our amazing new couch! The Lancaster from Restoration Hardware:



I still haven't found the right rug for this area, though. I'm thinking something like this

We've been pretty busy lately! We celebrated Chris's 27th birthday a couple weeks ago on a wonderful cruise and have been making subtle improvements around the house... and hoping to save and buy a new camera in the next few months!

It's looking good, but we're stumped on where to find a good-looking medicine cabinet? We already have a mirror, so we don't need one with a mirrored door.... and we don't want a glass door either... we need to conceal the clutter!
